This unit has taught me about the different conditionals. They are zero, first, second, third, and mixed. The structure of the sentence is what differentiates the types. The problem students have is determining the difference in usage between the first and second. There are different ways for teachers to teach the types of conditionals. They may split sentences, complete the conditional, use chains, write a question, or use nuclear bunker play. Direct and reported are the two different types of speeches to teach. Reported speech is also knows as indirect speech and the form of the verb changes into the positive form. Using a diagram to teach time expressions will help the students see how the speech changes form. The teacher may also use different activities to teach a group depending on what level each class is on.
