This lesson has taught me that there are four basic skills in any language and all are equally important. Reading and listening are done for a purpose and entertainment. The five areas that depend on how a person reads and listens are by using their predictive skills, scanning a text, skimming a text, using detailed information, and deduction from the context. In order to help students understand is to teach them unknown language by reading and listening during an activity. The teacher may pre-teach words that the students are having difficulty with. Teachers should choose topics that interest students because the class will be more engaging because students are interested in the topic.
