This unit has taught me what makes a good teacher and learner, the role of the teacher, the different levels of students, and reasons students are motivated to attend an English class. It is imperative for teachers to want to motivate their students and have a true love for teaching. There are many different roles a teacher may play. The teacher should be knowledgeable enough to understand when to take on a certain role for his or her students. It is important for the teacher to try to prompt students through encouragement when they are having a problem. The way a teacher gives feedback is extremely important because the teacher's main goal is to see the student succeed. Being aware of the students culture will aid the success of the class. The teacher should also understand the different language levels for student success. Maintaining good rapport with the class will be a way for students to succeed. Finally, the teacher should be excited to teach and motivate their students to want to learn.
