In today's lesson, I learnt about articulation and speech organs, place of articulation and the parts of the mouth responsible for forming sounds. I learnt the manner of articulation and how sounds are made, such as fricative sounds. I find that teaching pronunciation techniques is very important and man students have a lot of difficulty. It has always been easier as an ESL teacher to have a visual aid to help students learn the correct positioning of the tongue. L's and R's of course remain a challenge for many students and it can be frustrating for some to try to learn these sounds without a visual picture, particularly if they have poor listening skills.
