Grammar, Vocabulary and Language functions are the main language aspects that are introduced in this unit. There is a closer look at teaching techniques for language structures, vocabulary and language functions with examples of different ideas of ESA approaches (‘Straight arrow’, ‘Boomerang’ and ‘Patchwork’) for each language aspect respectively.
It was very useful for me to learn that while selecting vocabulary for teaching we should keep in mind such criteria as how appropriate the vocabulary should be to the students and the tasks, possibility to use the language in different situations, taking into account the language level of the students.
Also, the very techniques mentioned in the unit contribute to better understanding of what factors of the language we need to cover to make the teaching/leaning effective and meet students’ needs.
