Each word in a sentence can be classified, according to its purpose and the meaning it adds. There are 8 parts of speech : noun(a noun names people,animals, places, things, qualities, states), adjective(adjectives describe nouns),verb(including of action verbs and state verbs), article(two different types of a article: definite and indefinite), adverb(add meaning or information to the action, quality or state denoted by a verb), gerund(ingform of a verb used as a noun), pronoun(used instead/in place of more precise nouns or noun phrases), preposition/conjuncions(prepositions show the relationship between a noun and some other words, conjunctions join words or groups in a sentence).
