In this unit we studied about, what materials and course books should be used for teaching. We learnt about the authentic material (which is readily available) and creative material ( which is designed by the teacher to replace or supplement course book). Often the teacher has to be creative and create his/her own material to replace or supplement course books or to replace the sections that are not suitable for the class. We teachers should include various created materials in our lessons like crossword, word search, gap fills, role play cards etc. to make the learning process more interesting. Course book consists of students book, workbook , cassette etc. Using course book have some advantages & disadvantages, but a teacher should carefully choose the course material and use the course book according to the need of the class either by omitting, replacing or supplementing certain lessons of the course book.
