This unit discusses speaking and writing. There are several techniques listed for prompting student participation in discussions. The main ideas are to make students feel comfortable in the classroom and get them interested in the topic. This goes back to earlier units that discuss the point of being able to engage and get to know the students. If you do so you will be able to choose topics of interest. Also discussed are challenges in writing. Cultural considerations need to be made. Specifically, styles of writing. This can be worked on by proving examples like resumes and emails. Another challenge is how to explain that some words are written the same but pronounced differently, like read/read.
