Unit 8 focused on the importance of lesson planning and its effectivity on the class as well as its convenience for the teacher. The lesson also looked at the actual functions and procedures of a lesson plan. This included; its functionality as a guide or reference throughout the lesson, it’s use as a record, and how it allows the teacher to think with a logical mindset throughout the stages of the lesson. One more important function mentioned about a lesson plan, is that it gives the teacher the opportunity to self-reflect about their teaching in the classroom and the opportunity to provide themselves with a personal aim they wish to achieve in relation to improving their teaching skills. This is important as it allows the teacher to focus on each lesson’s strengths and weaknesses in a way that allows them help themselves to better develop as an effective teacher. This lesson has given me even more ideas for creating effective and engaging lessons and has furthered my understanding of suitable activities for an effective ESA structured lesson.
