The Thai language depends upon tonal changes, the same word is used for near and far in Thai, only the tone changes. The tonal changes are the most challenging aspect of my efforts to learn the Thai language because I generally hear a monotone. When I teach English pronunciation, I have learned a few tricks which help Thai students. For example, I use an electric toothbrush handle to demonstrate the vibration that “v” and “th” sounds make in English. I was confused by Question 15, especially the text that did not clarify if Tongue Twisters is or is not a teaching technique for pronunciation.
