We looked at the issues involved in common problem situations and how to deal with them.

Different levels of ability can be a problem; to deal with this pairing, group work, different material, same material with different tools and doing nothing are strategies to use. Techniques to deal with large classes included worksheets, pairing, group work and class monitors.
English must be encouraged in native monolingual classes by ensuring that activities are at the appropriate level and that teacher explanations are clear. Teachers should be guided by the pace of the class.
Reluctance to participate can be overcome using pair work, role play and plenty of controlled and guided practice before fluency activities.
