In this unit we studied about how to tech phonics and pronunciation to students. Teaching correct pronunciation of english is very important. We also learnt about teaching phonics, it means teaching children the sound made by individual letter or group and teaching how to merge separate sounds together to make it one word. We also learned about intonation, intonation is a matter of pitch variations but it is used in expressing emotions & attitudes. We learned about patterns of intonation viz, rise/fall pattern, fall/rise pattern and flat pattern. We learned techniques to teach intonation to students. We also learnt about stress, strongest part of the sentence is stressed word or word that bears the principal emphasis in the sentence. We also learnt some rules for stress and some techniques for teaching stress to learners. We also learned techniques to teach pronunciation of individual sounds. It was a new concept for me and it was quite interesting to know how native speakers pronounce few words in different manner than a non native speaker pronounce it.
