Unit 12 focuses on the two productive skills, speaking and writing. Therefore, this unit is closely related to Unit 11, which focused on the two receptive skills, listening and reading. Practicing writing is often neglected in favor of developing speaking skills, even though it is equally as important. Although writing is more difficult, speaking requires the speaker to command a higher level of fluency.
The unit is essentially divided into two different parts. The first section outlines various activities and techniques teachers can use during a lesson to develop students’ speaking skills. The second section introduces similar activities and techniques that can be used to help students improve their writing skills. These various examples will surely help me when planning lessons in the future, especially the example of a typical creative writing activity lesson.
