I found this unit the most enriching so far in terms of all it's very useful and valuable information. This unit covered the different learning methodologies used over time. This included the classical 17th-century Grammar Translation method to various 'newer' methods such as Audiolingualism, The Silent Way, suggestopedia and TPR as the ideas of psychology developed. Each of these methodologies showed knowledge about learning increase and each of these ever been created has its starting point on the Nature-Nurture continuum. The position of each methodology on this spectrum gives a starting point for the background or theory to that particular methodology. And with each methodology covered in this unit, both the strong points and weaknesses were looked at. The history and information of these methodologies are important to consider as they played a principal role in shaping one of today's most valuable, effective and successful teaching methods used by teachers for all levels of learners; the ESA method.
