This unit discusses what makes a good student and teacher and the teacher' role. For example, a good teacher is not just being educated on the subject, but also includes being able to engage with the students and be able to assess their needs and make plans accordingly. And a good student is one that is invested in the process and is willing to make mistakes while learning. This provides good guidelines for how to approach the teaching process. The unit also discusses what the difference are between young learners and adult learners. Some examples include, young learners may be more open and willing to make mistakes whereas older learners may be more anxious about making mistakes and receiving correction. Also, adult learners may have different motivation and be taking class based on their own decisions. Children may not have joined the class because of decisions they made. It is helpful to have the ages broken down to see what the learning abilities/capacity is at different ages. Lastly, the unit discusses the different levels of language. This is an excellent assessment tool to include when determining a students abilities.
