This unit helps to show how important it is to teach all parts of the english language while emphasizing that different parts of the language can, and perhaps should, be taught differently. Since grammar and language structures typically have the most number of rules related to them it makes sense that these should be taught in a more orderly fashion, using drills, repetition worksheets etc. Whereas functions like inviting, suggesting, accepting, rejecting are more obviously social in nature they are easier to teach with social activities like role-playing, debate and student-student interactions. This unit furthers the point that there isn't one "right" way to teach a subject or a lesson but there are many possible ways to go about providing effective lessons.
