This unit is about coursebooks and teaching materials.These materials can b devided into two groups : authentic and created. Authentic materials are about anything a native speaker would hear or read ( newspapers, songs, magazines etc.) But it might be difficult for begginers, as such materials are not graded by level.
Created materials, such as crosswords, role-play cards, pictur stories, can be graded to the level of the student.
Courseboooks have their advantages and disadvantages. Good thing is that it is less time consuming, normally provides balanced mix of grammar, vocabulary and skills work,offers continuity etc. Disadvantages are the following:it doesn't always fit the specific needs and interests of class members,exclusive use of course book might becoming boring and predictable,course books dictate what is to be taught etc.
