This unit is about two productive skills: speaking and writing. It covers techniques and activities that can help both the teacher and student in the English language classroom.In many ways writing is the most neglected skill , because teachers usually don't want to devote their lesson time to writing. Moreover? students mostly prefer to focus on speaking. Though it doesnt mean writing skills should be neglected.
There are accuracy and fluency activities. Both of them are important. Accuracy activities should go first (at Study stage), while fluency activities are for activate stage of the lesson. Accuracy activities are concentrated on producing correct language. Fluency activities allow students to b more creative.
Many students seem reluctant to speak. In this unit i read about techniques that might encourage such students to communicate:pair-work, group-work,careful planning, allowing students time to think about what they are going to say etc.
