Unit 11 focuses on one of the two important sets of basic skills in any auditory language; Receptive and Productive skills. This unit particularly covered the Receptive Skills (Reading & Writing) and the importance of these skills. This included the reasons for reading and listening (i.e for a purpose or entertainment), how one reads and listens, and the ways in which we do so. Common issues relating to these skills were also looked at, as well as solutions to resolve potential errors made my students and ways to prevent misunderstanding or confusion by students. A final and important point included in the unit was the various techniques and activities associated with the receptive skills and ideas of useful games to aid with the teaching of a subject with the integration of these skills. An example of a typical ESA lesson including these skills, was given to show how a lesson (or lesson plan) may look like for each unique stage of the lesson, including the suitable activities for such.
