This unit outlines different tests and exams used for evaluation of students' language skills. Placement, practice and diagnostic tests are usually an integral part of most of the English language courses. Placement tests are used to evaluate learners' language skills and knowledge before the course in order to evaluate his level and place him in the right study group.
In the beginning of a course, the teacher can give students a diagnostic test to see what students already know. This will help the teacher in preparing course materials.
Students' progress can be evaluated with progress tests. In addition to that, they are excellent way of motivating the learners to review already learnt material.
