This unit introduced the qualities of good teachers and their roles. Every teacher should be kind and patient, know the subject well to be able to answer various questions and give good examples, they should be able to motivate the students to learn and build their confidence to experiment with the language. It's very important that the teacher pays equal amount of attention to all the students and gives feedback without hurting their feelings or affecting their motivation. The teacher has many roles in the classroom that help make the classes varied and interesting as well as keeping the class organized and creating good learning environment. Good learners should be able to ask questions when unsure and experiment with the language, be motivated and have their own learning methods that work for them. The learners can be from different cultures, of different ages. I learned that the difference between young learners and adults is considerable. The adults are more nervous about their success, they have more learning experience that's why they have a fixed view on how teaching should be done while the young learners are less likely to be afraid to make mistakes and they don't compare the new language to their mother tongue. This unit also introduced different levels of language which is important for the teacher to know to be able to plan the content of the lessons properly and set certain expectations.
