Firstly, I never realized how little I remembered about parts of speech. This was a good refresher on the subject. I had never really learned the difference between transitive and intransitive verbs, so that was particularly challenging to remember. It was helpful to learn not just what a word in a sentence is, but why we use that type of part of speech in the situation. For example, using the indefinite article "a or an" rather than the definite article "the" for referring to any member of a group. In all, this unit showed me the reasons why we use different parts of speech where we do. As a native English speaker, we seldom think of why we are using specific words instead of others.
