I have always had difficulty remembering the parts of sentences.
I tutored an Asian gentleman when I was in college and he could label each word in a sentence with the proper names; noun, adverb, etc. However, I have learned that being able to label each word and know what they are, doesn't automatically follow that you can build a proper sentence. In other words, I need to frequently look up the information to know, for example, that the word "the" is a definite article, but I can use it in a sentence correctly. My student was unable to put together sentences even though he had memorized all the English rules. I was told by several Asian students that they learned English in their own country by memorizing. This is why I think this job is so important. If people are going to be able to use the English language fluently they need to understand how to put a sentence together correctly, not just be able to label the words. I will probably have to have one of the resources you suggested in my classroom. I learned a long time ago, it isn't as important that you remember everything, as long as you know where to look it up!
