Unit 3 went over the methodology, and theories of learning and teaching language. The different methods of teaching vary based off the teacher and the experience levels of the learners. Having a natural classroom would be ideal, but this requires the teacher to be proficient in native-language, which is not common. There are many effective teaching methods such as Audio-Lingualsim, Tasked-based learning, Communicative language teaching, Suggestopedia, etc. What makes ESA( Engage-Study-Activate) in whatever form( straight arrow,patched-work, boomerang) ideal for teaching languages is that incorporates different components of other teach methodology while eliciting students. The engage stage of a lesson get student engaged, or warmed up through discussion and prompting around pictures, drawings, or videos. The study stage is for practice and study of the structure, formation, and usage of the language. The activate stage is the part if the lesson where students use the language freely with no restrictions through role play, surveys, or for more advanced learners, debate and discussion. With all methodologies there should have feedback to ensure that the learner are receiving the information. Feedback and corrections go hand and hand, and help both the teacher and the learner observe mistakes and error differently as they occur.
