There are many forms of future tense which can make talking about the future quite a difficult skill for the English language learner to acquire. The seven forms are labelled as follows: future simple (for facts, promises, predictions, assumptions, spontaneous decisions, threats), future continuous (for polite enquiries, fixed future events, describing things that will be in progress at a certain future time), future perfect (for events that will have been completed by a certain future time), future perfect continuous (for describing how long something will have been going on by a certain future time), the “be going + infinitive” form (for intentions, predictions based on current evidence, plans decided before speaking), present simple (for formal situations, timetables, schedules) and present continuous (for definite arrangements, decisions and plans with no time frame.
