After studying this unit on the different parts of speech, I have a better understanding of the fundamental parts in teaching English as a subject. For one to master English, it is important that the basic figure of speech is understood. For example when to use "an", only for words that begin with a vowel or a consonant that sounds like a vowel, example "an hour".
A teacher needs to ensure that a student knows how to construct a sentence properly. By knowing the different parts of speech, the teacher can guide the student into the correct ways of sentence construction and the parts that make a sentence grammatically correct.
