This unit was about production skills, which are speaking and writing. There are some different reasons students would be hesitant to speak and some strategies teachers can use to encourage students to speak. The unit also explained that writing can be a challenging task and also a neglected skill in the ESL/EFL world. It is important that students are exposed to different types of writing and have the chance to practice writing.
I think that in planning a lesson it is important to include tasks which require the student to be accurate and then move onto fluency. Thus, I hope to incorporate controlled, guided and creative tasks within my lesson to help students become both accurate and fluent in their speaking. In my class, I also hope to use group writing or pair writing activities at times.
