Students need to know the meaning, usage, interaction, word grammar pronunciation and spelling of the words. The teaching of grammatical structures depends upon the class level and the curriculum followed. Here, meaning, usage, form and pattern and the written and spoken forms are elements which need to be explored when teaching grammatical structures. The teaching of language functions focuses upon appropriateness of language used and activating the language - using it in contexts such as greeting. These three elements go hand-in-hand, and build upon one another. There are similar teaching activities for some of the stages (study, activate and engage), but there are slight differences in the finer details related to which of the three aspects are specifically being taught.
