I understand that while Speaking and Writing are an important part of learning a language give students a well rounded experience. Reading and listening will help students understand audio and written word which can be useful both for personal reasons (a book, instructions on setting up a device) or for travel to be able to communicate effectively with locals. Teaching them to listen and read will also help them with such skills as scanning, predicting, skimming and reading for detailed information. It is important to keep students engage and make sure there is a balance of study and fun within a lesson. All materials should be selected carefully based on skill and understanding, as well as being varied in topic to be interesting.
