In every lesson, there are bound to have additional resources used by teachers and students alike. This can come in the form of learning materials and coursebooks. Both with the intention to have a more hands-on experience in the lesson. There are two types of learning materials - authentic and created materials. Authentic materials are those that can be easily accessible and usually used in our daily lives such as newspapers, films, brochures and more. Created materials are those teacher-made teaching aids such as flash cards, crossword puzzle, word search and more. Both learning materials have their own pros and cons.
Additionally, coursebooks are used for various reasons. For teachers, it can be a helpful guideline for constructing lessons, a way to monitor the class progress or even getting some ideas for class especially for inexperienced teachers. For students, it can be used for additional practice at home or something to refer for revision.
