This unit has focused upon the present tense which has four aspects, namely: present simple, present perfect, present continuous (also known as present progressive) and present perfect continuous. The completion of tenses is one of the most complicated tasks of learning English as English has a total of 12 tenses. Each aspect has four areas which are covered, known as: form (including affirmative, negative and question examples), usages (how and under which circumstances the tense is used), typical student errors (which may be anticipated and planned for, or not) and activate stage teaching ideas (activities which promote the use of each tense). An important aspect for the tenses are the auxiliary verbs which are used: 'do' for present simple, 'be' for present continuous, 'have' for present perfect and 'have' with 'been' added for the present perfect continuous.
