This unit has been concerned with the management of a class. This is known as classroom management which is the organising and managing of the class. This may be done through the use of: eye contact, gesture, the use of your voice, the way one uses the board, the grouping of students, classroom arrangement, teacher talking time and student talking time control, the giving of individual attention, the maintaining of discipline and the building of rapport. There are various ways to effectively execute each, depending upon the class (the physical class and resources such as chairs), the teacher and the students. The use of pairs, groups, whole-class or individual work will also be influenced by factors in the classroom and be context-specific. The act of classroom management is one which requires a great deal of thought, balance, and time to develop your own style which works for both you and your class.
