This unit focused on the Past Tense, namely the Past Simple tense, the Past Continuous tense, the Past Perfect tense and the Past Perfect Continuous tense. The Past Simple tense is used to show that a past action occurred at a given time, when a past action took place at a definite time and when time is asked about. The Past Continuous tense is used to interrupt past actions, indicate gradual development that occurred in the past and to express an action that happened before a given time. The Past Perfect tense represents actions that happened before other actions in the past happened. Lastly, the Past Perfect Continuous tense, which is not commonly used, is mainly used to talk about the actions/situations that had been going on continuously up to the present moment that we are thinking about.
