This unit looks at the productive skills of speaking and writing and gives the teacher different considerations for teaching these skills, such as how and when to teach fluency or accuracy, how to encourage students to speak in class, and difficulties that students may face when doing writing activities. I like the discussion of deciding when to focus on accuracy and when to focus on fluency of spoken language; this added structure makes lesson planning different activities more thought-out, and it makes me more considerate of what I choose to include in a given lesson. I may wish to focus more on fluency, but that still needs to be balanced with attention to accuracy.
