pronounciation is very important and managing to pronounce words indicates the depth of knowledge into the english language that the speaker has. this unit basically theorises the practical part of english, the sound, the vibrations, the rise and the fall. intonation is a concept that deals with the changes in volume and pitch, words like"ok" have a variation, the "o" part will be the part where the speakers tone is at its highest and the pitch falls going into the "k". this unit deals with being able to stress certain words and certain parts of a word in a sentence to give out or produce the desired feeling or tone in a sentence. the sounds made when speaker change from how they are spelt when written, for example "shutter" can change to "shudder", the t is changed to a d when spoken, this is called sound changing. we also have sound joining as part of the techniques in teaching pronounciation and phonology. an example of sound joining would be "ice cream" can change to "i scream". the way words are said and how they come about also depends on our vocal chords, palate(soft or hard) and the tongue, this is partand parcel of where the articulation of words originates amongst other forms of articulation.
