This unit's focus was on the different parts of speech. Nouns have five different types, namely: common, proper, compound, abstract and collective. Most nouns are pluralized by adding an 's' or 'es' at the end of a noun unless the noun is an irregular noun. Another part of speech is the adjective. Its main usage is to modify the noun. There's also the comparative and superlative adjective, where you add 'er' and 'est' , or more and most respectively. Articles compose of the indefinite articles 'a' and 'an', and the definite pronoun 'the'. Verbs can be classified as transitive verbs that is followed directly by an object, intransitive verbs that cannot be followed by an object, infinitives and auxiliary verbs. Adverbs are words that modify adjectives and verbs. They are classified as adverbs of manner, place, time, degree and frequency. Gerunds are the -ing form of verb used as a noun. Pronouns come in the form of personal, possessive, reflexive and relative pronouns. Lastly, there are the prepositions, words that show relationship between a noun or and another word, and conjunctions, words that join words or clauses.
