The lesson first began by going over the past simple tense, discussing its forms (affirmative, negative and question form), irregular form for verbs in past simple, proper usages (ie: for a past action when a time is given), common student mistakes and errors as well as sample activate stage teaching ideas. Next the lesson covered the past continuous tense, first covering its forms, usages (ie: for interrupted past actions), common student mistakes and errors and sample activate stage teaching ideas. Then the unit went over the past perfect tense, going over its forms, usages, the two proper words for completing sentences about completely finished actions (When and After), as well as a sample activate stage teaching ideas. Finally the unit concluded with information about the past perfect continuous tense, discussing its differing forms, usage (to talk about the longer actions/situations in the past that had been going on continuously up to the past moment being thought about), and common student mistakes and errors when using the tense. Overall I feel as though I have learned to properly go about teaching the differing forms of the past tense to English language learners.
