This unit looks at teaching the receptive skills of reading and writing and talks about what teachers should consider when choosing texts or dialogues for students to use and trying to build student interest in said texts. I liked the discussion about authentic and non-authentic texts and how we have to decide when to use each type. My hope would have been to stick with purely authentic texts so that my students would have exposure to authentic language samples, but I like the approach that the unit gives about using authentic texts to build confidence. I will more carefully consider when to use authentic texts in my future classes.
