We can all imagine how a good teacher behaves and controls the class, and this unit breaks down the necessities for an effective classroom. Students benefit from a wide variety of engaging tasks, and the teacher is in control of that. Allowing students to move around, speak to each other, while also listening to important information must be in balance. Students need to consistently learn from study, activity and instruction, all of which are influenced by a teacher’s behavior (from writing on the board to arranging desks). These are the basics of how a teacher must keep students engaged and foster a welcoming and learning-centered classroom environment. I imagined how each of my teachers has behaved in class, and these factors are present. It made me reflect on how my current college professors act compared to the much softer and nurturing demeanors my elementary teachers had.
