This was a difficult unit to understand as there are a lot of vocabulary to digest. What I took out of this unit is that pronunciation and phonology are difficult areas of study and need to be taught with extra care. I really enjoy the part of the unit that talks about intonation and the difference between rise/fall and fall/rise sentences. In addition, as a native speaker we realize more times than not the stress on words but when having to list out stressed and unstressed words, it becomes rather difficult to do on the first try. The phonemic alphabet or KK symbol as taught here in Taiwan, seems difficult upon first glance but due to the difficulty in pronunciation of the English language, this system actually becomes quite useful in teaching students the phonetics of English words.
