This unit focuses on classroom management to maximise learning, rapport within a class, and respect for the teacher and other student.
It does this by helping teachers communicate well through voice, gesture and eye-contact, as well as the how to use names, give clear instructions, when it is helpful to stand or sit, and how to minimise the time that you have your back turned to the class.
It also teaches the pros and cons of different seating (classroom) arrangements and different groupings of students. Varying the type of grouping and who is in each group can make certain activities work better, ensure outspoken students don't dominate, and ensuring all students can participate at a level that's comfortable for them.
Finally, this unit talks about problem behaviour, what their causes may be and how to prevent or manage them in a way that maintains student respect and shows empathy for issues a student may be dealing with.
