Unit 12 focused on the productive skills, speaking and writing. Under the skill of speaking, both fluency and accuracy should be focused on. Activities focused on accuracy are used to make the students produce correct language. Activities focused on fluency are used to help the students use the language experimentally and creatively. Though both are equally important, the teacher must know that these two must come into different stages of the lesson. Likewise, the teacher has to take into consideration 3 major factors in teaching writing. The first is the penmanship of the student. Though this is the least important factor, having writing that can be read in important for others to understand what the student wrote. The other factor is spelling. It is important that students know how to spell as there may be misunderstandings as the words may sound alike but have different spelling and meaning. Lastly, the layout and punctuation. Students must know the general rules of grammar and punctuation in order to write effectively. They should also be taught different layouts in writing to get their point across.
