Having a natural interest in psychology and how cultures shape the way we think, this unit was interesting for me, particularly the part around how we interrupt certain information. The example in the unit of the headline ‘Bears destroyed by cowboys’ is something that I have often faced whilst living in Asia and it is important to remember our assumptions when teaching English as a foreign language.
Overall, this unit gave some good examples of possible lesson structures for teaching receptive skills in a fun way. I also enjoyed the summary of the different skills we use when reading or listening which can give ideas for possible lesson activities.
