Present simple uses: habits, things in general, routines, general facts, directions and instructions, present stories. These are the most common for the use of present simple. Usage forms: affirmative (subject+base form[+s/es]); negative form (subject+auxiliary verb 'do'+ not+ base form)
Present continuous: to talk about actions that is in progress at the time of speaking. Usage forms: Affirmative (subject+auxiliary verb 'be'+ verb +ing) negatives (Subject+auxiliary verb 'be'+not+-verb+ing) and questions (auxiliary verb 'be'+subject+ verb+ing)
Present Perfect: to talk about finished actions at an indefinite time. The focus is the action not the time that the action happened. To use this forms the student will need to look at a list of past participle verbs.
Usage forms: Affirmative (subject+auxiliary verb 'have'+past participle); negatives (subject+auxiliary verb 'have'+not+ past participle); questions (auxiliary verb 'have'+subject+ past participle)
Present Perfect Continuous: to talk about actions that are incomplete at the time of speaking or ongoing activity. The focus is the time that the action has been going on.
Forms: Affirmative (subject+auxiliary verb 'have'+been+ing); negative (subject+auxiliary verb 'have'+ not +been+verb+ing); questions (auxiliary verb 'have'+subject+been+verb+ing).
