Lesson planning is very important. You cannot only rely on your experience and good subject knowledge. Every lesson should have a structure according to learner’s level, previous lessons, the main goal, etc. But if you do not have your lesson plan you can easily forget about something you wanted to give to the learners. So, you should get ready for the lesson, but you should be flexible too. Sometimes this may happen when you have prepared a special activity for the students and thought to spend 20 minutes doing this but they just did not like it. Or they could not understand what they had to do and now you have to spend all these 20 minutes explaining this. Conversely you want to start the lesson with the new game but students can ask you play the game which they really liked last time. I mean the teacher should be ready for anything and lesson planning can really help you with this.
