This unit addresses special types of students, including adult company workers and one-on-one sessions. All of these environments require personalized teaching styles and lesson plans, especially when you consider their language levels as well. Several points in this unit were reminders from previous units, such as classroom management with young children. However, this is a cohesive list of how a teacher should act in the classroom (ex: pairing weak students with strong ones). I appreciated the ESP section since adult students from a company may vary widely with language levels and motivations. I think they are one of the most unique groups to handle because the teacher may be working with the company directly. Distinguishing the company employee’s needs and separating industry knowledge from learning English is essential. Overall, I enjoyed this lesson for it’s summary of previous lesson points and overview of other special groups.
