This unit is about direct and indirect/reported speech and conditionals. There are 5 conditionals; zero, first, second, third, and mixed. Each of these conditionals have their own structure except for mixed which is a combination of second and third conditionals. Direct speech is what the person says which will usually be in quotes. Indirect speech is like a report of what something or someone has said. I can see how students can get confused and mixed up these conditionals. Its not a lot to remember, but it is quite easy to get it mixed up. The perfect tense is already quite confusing for most English learners, but mixing it with conditionals may become quite the challenge. However, through practice it can be taught and retained. There are many fun activities for this unit, especially for conditionals. Having fun questions for learners to play around with is interesting in my opinion. For example, if you had a million dollars, what would you do?
