In this chapter we covered the four past tenses and their uses: past simple, past continuous, past perfect, past perfect continuous. Also relevant to this lesson, we learned common student mistakes and helpful ways to teach these topics. The structures in these tenses are virtually the same as the structure amidst the present tenses, the main difference being the past form of the auxiliary verb "have", and for the simple tenses, the use of -ed/d instead of -es/s.
