In this unit I firstly learned about the role of the teacher in the classroom. We looked at what makes a good teacher as well as the different roles a teacher plays during a lesson. These roles need to be varied and applied according to the task, content, and lesson outcomes. In structuring and labeling all the different roles, it will help me to better balance my teaching to ensure optimal learning and help motivate and stimulate the minds of my students with different approaches to teaching. Secondly, I learned about what makes a great student. This is helpful because it provides the teacher with goals he can inspire his students to achieve. Lastly we looked at the different age groups of students as well as the different proficiency levels. The information about the proficiency is useful in helping the teacher set achievable, but still challenging goals and outcomes for their class. The information about the age levels is useful because it gives the teacher insight into the motivations, abilities, issues, and strengths of each age group.
