In this unit, the importance of course books and materials were explained. Specifically, it delves into course books and its advantages and disadvantageous. It is important to note that course books are like a guideline and should not be used strictly, instead a teacher should learn how to utilize the book and make adaptions to fit the specific lesson plan set out for the students. There is also coverage of authentic and created materials. Authentic materials primarily is factual, such as newspapers, menus and so forth while created are materials such as crosswords and word searches. It is important to note that created materials are much more suited for graded level rather than authentic material. As teachers, we must take note of what kinds of resources to use in order to better facilitate a lesson and get students to further engage in the conversation and have them participate to get the best understanding possible.
